I got my kids Colorku. We already have Rush Hour - Jr. for them, regular for ME! We also have Qwirkle. But now I want to check out Sumoku and the monsters math book. I have one math lover and one math hater. I'm also interested in some non-fiction math books - I don't have my list in front of me but there are some by Betsy Franco, i think, and a few others that are poems about math or otherwise make math fun. I'm not sure they actually require or teach math SKILLS, but making it fun is half the battle. The actress from The Wonder Years has a few books out about how girls shouldn't fear math and reviewing math skills, but they are for older kids. Still, I want to look at them - I want to make sure they are not coming from a place talking about NOT fearing math because i don't want to implant the idea that girls (or anyone) should be afraid of math in either of my kid's heads. Would love to see your math book ideas. We also love the Paul Erdos biography, which is more bio than math, but does have a nice page or two on prime numbers.
I try and get my shopping done as easly as possible for my two little daughters (like I talk about in my post about how to enjoy the holidays more). They love girly things, especially tiny dolls. I thought it might be nice to make a list of some of things they love, to give you some ideas for the little girls in your life! Great list! My daughter (4,5 y.o.) already have the biggest part of it! J Now I'm trying to search for some alternatives, like handmade dolls by US artists. Similar to those that stated in this article -christmas-gift-ideas/ (first photo) She also loves Tilda style dolls that are for sale in some shops on Etsy. And even my pretty grown up friends enjoy such gifts! J

We (actually it is Father Christmas!) do stockings full of mini gifts for the children to open before breakfast. I hate plastic tat and sugary sweets so it can be a challenge to find nice inexpensive things that won't create clutter. Stationery, hair clips, candles, hankies and books from jumble sales, socks, craft accessories usually appear year after year. Any more ideas welcome! Mine are 9 and 11 year old girls.
